Grade 100 Chain Sling Capacity Chart
Working load limits for every Grade 100 chain sling we sell, 9/32″ to 1″ chain, in 1, 2, 3 and 4 leg configurations. Single leg slings show vertical, choker and basket ratings; multi-leg slings show ratings at 60°, 45° and 30°.
Our chain slings are made to order in the USA with American-made Grade 100 alloy chain and meet or exceed ASME B30.9.
Safety first: Never exceed the working load limit (WLL). Ratings shown are the manufacturer ratings listed on our product pages; always follow the WLL marked on the shackle or sling tag, which governs. Inspect all rigging before each use and remove damaged gear from service. Sling angle and hitch reduce capacity, so do not rig below 30°.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the capacity of a 1/2 inch Grade 100 chain sling?
A 1/2″ Grade 100 single leg chain sling is rated 15,000 lbs vertical, 12,000 lbs choker and 30,000 lbs basket. A 1/2″ 2 leg sling is rated 26,000 lbs at 60°, 21,200 lbs at 45° and 15,000 lbs at 30°.
How does sling angle affect chain sling capacity?
Angles are measured from horizontal. As the legs get flatter, each leg carries more tension, so the rated capacity drops: it is highest at 60° and lowest at 30°. Do not rig below 30°.
Why do 3 leg and 4 leg chain slings have the same rating?
Our 3 leg and 4 leg Grade 100 chain slings carry the same listed rating at each size and angle. Under ASME B30.9, a 4 leg sling is rated like a 3 leg sling because on a rigid load only three legs can be counted on to carry the load. Use the rating in the table, not a per-leg multiple.
Does chain sling length change the capacity?
No. Reach (length) does not change the rating; chain size, number of legs and sling angle do.
