Wire Rope Sling Capacity Chart

Working load limits for every wire rope sling we sell, 3/8″ to 1″ IWRC EIPS wire rope: single leg slings and chokers (vertical, choker and basket) and 2, 3 and 4 leg bridles (60°, 45° and 30°). Capacities are in tons.

Safety first: Never exceed the working load limit (WLL). Ratings shown are the manufacturer ratings listed on our product pages; always follow the WLL marked on the shackle or sling tag, which governs. Inspect all rigging before each use and remove damaged gear from service. Sling angle and hitch reduce capacity, so do not rig below 30°.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the capacity of a 3/4 inch wire rope sling?

A 3/4″ single leg IWRC EIPS wire rope sling is rated 5.6 tons vertical, 4.1 tons choker and 11 tons basket.

What is the capacity of a 1/2 inch wire rope choker?

A 1/2″ single leg wire rope sling is rated 1.9 tons in a choker hitch, 2.5 tons vertical and 5.1 tons basket.

What design factor do wire rope slings use?

Our wire rope slings use a 5:1 design factor: the breaking strength is five times the rated working load limit. The design factor allows for wear, abrasion and load variations; it is never extra capacity to use.

Does the WLL on the hook apply to a wire rope bridle?

No. The WLL stamped on a hook rates the hook alone; the bridle is rated as listed in the tables above.
